Students will be admitted on the 1 September each year to the relevant age groups which, as defined by the School Admissions Code, will be to Year 7 (75 places) and Year 8, 9 and 10 (60 places).

The School will participate in all admissions arrangements operated by KCC, and will be involved in co-ordinating admissions and appeals with them.

Admissions and Appeals timetable

Applications for children due to start secondary school in September 2018 open on 1 September 2017 and close on 31 October 2017.

You can apply for up to 4 schools, putting them in order of preference. It's in your best interests to list 4 schools. Naming only one school does not guarantee your child a place at that school or give your child priority for a place over another child, neither does naming a school more than once.

Offers of places for September 2018 will made at the beginning of March 2018 through the usual Kent County Council process.  It is important that parents looking to secure a place for their child at Hadlow Rural Community School understand that this is only the first stage of the process and if unsuccessful should not give up as there are other options available. 

Together with the offer letter, parents will receive a ‘Waiting List Request Form’. This should be completed and returned to KCC Admissions by no later than the date stated if you would like your child to be reconsidered for a place at Hadlow Rural Community.  A second round of offers will be made by KCC from the Waiting List and parents will be advised if successful on 28th April 2017.


If your child is still unsuccessful at gaining a place at Hadlow Rural Community School for September 2018 intake, their name will remain on our waiting list, however you can lodge an appeal between 1 March and 29 March 2018 to guarantee that your appeal will be heard by the middle of June 2018. For applications made in the normal admission round, appeals must be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals.  For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 schools days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 schools days of the appeals being lodged.

Deadline for parents to lodge written appeals with the school

20 April 2018

Deadline for appellants to submit additional evidence for appeal

8 May 2018

By this date Appeals Panel will receive appeal papers and school’s case

10 May 2018

By this date appellants will receive notification of date and time of appeal hearing
