Modern Foreign Languages
The Hadlow Rural Community School Modern Foreign Languages Department will strive to deliver a high quality and consistent Modern Foreign Languages curriculum that ensures all students have a compelling learning experience which enables them to achieve their full potential.
Our aim is to achieve outstanding and innovative Modern Foreign Languages teaching to all through team work and collaboration.
The Modern Foreign Languages department will support the school’s specialisms by providing a varied curriculum which will help students to become “life-long learners” and equip them with essential skills for a successful future.
Learning a foreign language broadens our horizons and provides an opening to other cultures. A high-quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. The teaching should enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing. It should also provide opportunities for them to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking and read great literature in the original language. Language teaching should provide the foundation for learning further languages, equipping pupils to study and work in other countries.
“To have another language is to possess a second soul” Charlemagne
